The Input Stage
The same Line Stage Gain Module input stage found in Constellation’s top amplifiers utilizes hand-matched, low noise transistors combined with a servo circuit that corrects for any signal balance inconsistencies. The Link interface that connects to Constellation amplifiers removes one amplification stage from the signal path for less complexity and more musicality.
The Power Supply
Our Constellation Switch-Mode Power Supply (C-SMPS) rises above the century-old technologies that hinder the performance of traditional amplifiers, with over 20 dB less noise than a typical linear power supply. Power Factor Correction (PFC) technology provides stable power at any AC supply voltage—worldwide. Voltage and current are always in phase regardless of speaker load, while power over the previous version is increased by 20 percent.
The Circuit
Revelation 2 amplifiers employ a balanced configuration, with separate amplifier circuits for the positive and negative halves of the audio signal. Other balanced amplifiers use N-type transistors for the positive half of the circuit and P-type transistors for the negative half. Our Balanced Bridged configuration uses only N-type transistors, so both signal halves pass through exactly the same circuitry—with even the softest musical details preserved.
The Result
Both Revelation 2 amplifiers are essentially distilled versions of our larger models, sharing the same circuits and core design philosophy. In fact, they’re perfect examples of why Constellation’s approach to amplification works so well. Instead of redesigning the amplifiers to make them smaller, our engineers simply reduced the number of modules and made the power supply a bit less overbuilt. Through a combination of Constellation’s innovative audio circuits and revolutionary C-SMPS power supply, the Inspiration 2 amplifiers achieve astounding sonic results. And while smaller in stature, their musicality and emotion remain undiminished.
